Building TV BuzzAgainOn The Web

It also has one of the most star crossed histories on the Internet. Think of it as your vanity license plate on the video Web with benefits. One of his companies DotTV tried licensing dot tv addresses. The dot tv group which Daly is helping to promote is called ChannelMe. People who register through ChannelMe. tv can also earn cash through advertising on their pages. But the pair has struggled during the last seven months since ChannelMe. Those sites work pretty well and they re free. com talked with Daly and Rosenblatt about how they plan to persuade video lovers that ChannelMe. com Dot tv domains have been around for nearly a decade. Back before the bust it was just another hot two letter domain. Everything on the Web was hot and domains went for crazy prices. After the bust dot tv domains were a lot cheaper than dot coms. The domain was bought by VeriSign in . I got very excited about dot tv around when Web video was just starting. They say timing is ! everything. Dot tv has been available for years but it has never been more needed than it is now. The dot com addresses have been picked over thoroughly. We certainly don t want to slow down growth of the dot tv domain. One word names are most valuable. tv is still available but news. That one was very expensive. There have been fewer than million dot tv names taken and there are a lot left. We re smack dab in the middle of massive shifting media plate tectonics its all being decided right now. If I m an independent player I m trying everything. I signed a girl to my NBC show based on her YouTube videos. But remember the Web is so big now that a lot of things get lost. If somebody points me to a site that s a simple URL that s easy to remember. That is going to get a better shot at getting the attention of someone like me. Rosenblatt We didn t set out to create a site that would kill MySpace and YouTube. We re not going head to head. It was getting very crowd! ed. Dot tv is now my main hub. I think it works in conjunction with the other sites because dot tv links to all those other sites. Rosenblatt I set up my son Dylan age with a dot tv site. He knows all about MySpace and Facebook and he and his friends want to do social networking. But he s not allowed to you have to be . I would never let him on there by himself. Other parents are now suggesting this to their kids. Much user generated content is boring and poorly made. Put everything you want out there and see what rises to the top. Like Google results You ll get a billion but the best ones are listed first. Daly The filtration process on dot tv is much easier there s good stuff to be found. We re trying to work through all this crap so that it is easier to find. It isn t at all like going to YouTube and searching searching searching through all that crap. The rest of the world is just living in it.
